Research centre
The first objective of the research centre of the castle of Versailles is to assemble international teams on topics regarding the places and expressions of power.
It studies all the aspects of the court civilisation and although it is centred on Europe in the 17 and 18th centuries, it can analyse the phenomenon in other regions of the world and at other times. Beyond a purely scientific broadcasting, it applies itself to make the mass audience benefit from the results of its works.
It conducts the GVN project because:
- It knows that knowledge of the past is indispensable to the construction of the future
- It wants to bring a different angle on the modes of current behaviours through its studies
- It gives a big place to applied research along the fundamental research
- It favours the experimental projects that call on the excellence of experts
Being an experimental laboratory, it bets on the new technologies and on the new partnership modes for the implementation and the broadcasting of its works.
